an in-between home

May I non-annoyingly remind you that one of my all-time favorite movies is The Royal Tenenbaums? Remember when Chaz moves with his two sons, Aurie and Oozie back into his childhood home so he can sorts some things out?

Well, I’m kinda doing the same thing. Yay?

The house is still on the market (hopefully for not much longer), and I have been leasing a condo. Paying half a mortgage AND a lease makes for one very stressed mama.

When my parents first offered for Finn and I to come live with them I laughed. I scoffed. I’m a self-sufficient thirty-five year old woman, I thought. Then I thought some more.

Finn adores my parents, and has a very special bond with them. They have more than enough room for us, and the time (I’m going for a year), will allow me to hopefully save a good chunk of money for a downpayment on a great home with a little yard for my ever-active tot.

I know there will be challenges. Hello, codependency issues? But I think there were also be some very sweet times, and am looking at this interim as a great opportunity for us to be together. And mama to save money.

So here we go—off to another adventure, Tenenbaum style.

Go Royal Tenenbaums! Looking forward to the fun!

I have a colorful past of having to humble myself and live with others, whether it was family, coworkers, or non-profit organizations. You’re shirking those passe ideologies that humans are supposed to be self-sufficient and never need to rely on family or community. You go! Burst through those limiting stigmas! Then move out before full-on codependency sets in. ;)

Incidentally, Royal Tenenbaums is among my favorite movies, too.

Thanks, Meredith! Good to know you have also been through times like these—
